UCLU Drama Society in association with UCLU Stage Crew presents

by William Shakespeare

A classic tale of ambition, regicide, fear and suspicion, where domestic order and military hierarchy are threatened by the compulsive, irrational forces within the human condition.

Set on the barren, claustrophobic battlefield of Southern Europe between 17th July 1936 and 1st April 1939, a training ground for axis expeditionary forces, this bloodthirsty piece witnesses the barbarous rise and inevitable fall of the infamous Macbeth.

DRAMAJAM IS BACK! - Drama Society workshops for young people

This is an excellent opportunity for drama society members to teach young
people what they know about drama, and channel all those hours of rehearsal
time into something different. We will teach 13-5year olds at a local school,
on Wednesday afternoons 3.45pm-5.15. Volunteers are needed to work along
side members of drama society and professionals who will run workshops,
there may be the opportunity to run your own workshop.
No experience necessary, training is provided. You will require a CRB
check (FREE FOR ALL VOLUNTEERS), forms obtained the VSU 2nd floor of
Bloomsbury building.
This is an excellent opportunity to extend your own skills, as well as impart skills
to young people who would not otherwise have the opportunity.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
by Dale Wasserman
based on the novel by Ken Kesey

Tyrannical Nurse Ratched rules her ward in an Oregon State mental hospital
with a strict, unbending routine. Her patients, cowed by mind-numbing
medication and the threat of electric shock therapy, dare not oppose her.
But everything changes with the arrival of McMurphy - the swaggering,
fun-loving trickster with a devilish grin, who resolves to oppose her rules
on behalf of his fellow inmates. His struggle is seen through the eyes of
Chief Bromden, a seemingly mute patient who understands McMurphy's heroic
attempt to battle with the powers that keep them imprisoned. McMurphy
battles Nurse Ratched and the ward regime, challenging everyone's beliefs
about madness...who, of them all, is really insane?

5 parts still to be cast

Performance dates:
February 28th - March 12th
at Theatro Technis,
Mornington Crescent

Rehearsal dates:
10th January - 28th February,

This is a fantastic opportunity for everyone involved to display their
talents to reviewers and names in the industry (including the wife of the
author), and to take part in a challenging, thought-provoking play with a
group of keen and creative actors and dedicated directors, as well as
experiencing some perhaps unorthodox rehearsal techniques..

We are looking for actors through to artists, including musicians, dancers,
stage crew, costume/set designers, etc, and anyone interested in the
production side of things.

Please bring your own piece to read that you feel is suitable and do not be
offended if the audition is cut very brief. You may also be considered for
future productions by the theatre company even if not cast in this play.

Come along to the CSC rehearsal room from 3 - 5pm on Friday 26th November
(moving across to CSC rm 105 at 4pm).

Those who cannot attend the audition but wish to be considered for a part,
